Sunset Waters

Description:

SPECTACULAR DESIGN:

rn

This WATERFRONT holiday home, completed in 2007, was architecturally designed to capture the magnificent water views across Moreton Bay, to the mainland and hinterland beyond. Fourteen metres of floor-to-ceiling glass, slides open and ensures you enjoy spectacular sunsets from the living and dining rooms.... perhaps while sipping a chilled champagne or enjoying a glass of cold beer. High raked ceilings, open plan design and ceiling fans circulate the cooling island breezes, while oriental furnishings and warm natural materials help create a calm, sub-tropical feel.

rn

At Sunset Waters, all there is between you and the ever changing sea and sky is floor-to-ceiling
glass. Sliding doors and large shady decks are designed to bring the outside in, creating a
relaxing environment.

RELAX & UNWIND:

rn

Preparing lunch or dinner has taken on new meaning..... enjoy the panoramic views of the gentle waters and the hinterland beyond, while utilising the stainless steel appliances. BBQ on the deck, and when the sun sets over the bay, the night lights of Redland Bay sparkle to illuminate the mainland across the water.. quite a spectacular sight.

rn

No loud traffic noises to interrupt your peace and quiet... only kookaburras, rosellas and sea eagles gliding along searching for their evening meal.

rn

FOR ACTIVE PEOPLE:

rn

For those wanting "a little more" activity, Macleay Island has a public golf course, a bowls club and some quiet sandy beaches to explore. For the "keen angler", there is no need to leave our property - throw in your fishing line from the timber walkway leading to the waters edge. Beach fishing or other local "lucky spots" are only a short drive away. For the real fishing enthusiast, why not hire a boat from the local store for a half or full day.

rn

Sunset Waters boasts its own mooring - if you have a tinny you want to tow behind your car on its own trailer on the barge; or alternatively want to sail a yacht or boat across to Macleay, then there is a safe mooring for your vessel while staying. You have easy access from our foreshore, to enjoy each day fishing or sailing, just as you wish.

rn

If you are a cyclist, bring your bike from the mainland, and ride around the island until you can "peddle-no-more". Alternatively, use the guests mountain bikes and helmets at Sunset Waters, exlporing the roads and tracks along the waterfront and inland tracks.

rn

Why not "Island Hop" - grab your backpack, water bottle, some lunch and jump onto one of the local ferries to explore Lamb, Russell and Karragarra Islands - ferries leave each of the local jetties, on a very regular basis.

rn

rn

Extended Weekend Stay:

rn

This weekend package offers our guests a 4pm departure on Sunday (enabling them to enjoy a lazy start to the day with breakfast in bed and the Sunday papers, a BBQ lunch on the deck, or a leisurely lunch at The Blue Parrot or Golf Club before heading home). It INCLUDES a 12 noon check-in on the Friday (subject to availability) AND a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine that will be chilling in the fridge for their arrival! The standard off peak tariff for our "Extended Weekend Stay" is $375 for 2 adults, extra guests are $15pp/pn.

rn

Please Note:

rn

Macleay Island "is" an island as such with no bridge joining it to the mainland.

rn

Access to Macleay is either by passenger ferry or barge; the former transporting people to and from the island between 6am-10pm, 7 days a week; the latter moving cars and their passengers, from 5am-7pm, 7 days a week. Both services operate from a terminal at Redland Bay - the closest mainland point to Macleay Island. North Stradbroke Island, shelters Macleay from any harsh storms heading inland from the Coral Sea and both these islands make up part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park - where spotting dolphins and rays, along with dugongs and many varieties of fish, are "quite the norm".

rn

When looking for Macleay Island on a map, it's nestled mid-way between bustling Brisbane and the Gold Coast, out from Redland Bay.

rn

To date, most of our Sunset Waters guests, have driven from the greater Brisbane or Northern NSW regions to stay, however Sunset Waters has also welcomed many International & Interstate visitors. For any guest flying in to stay at our holiday home, we recommend landing at Brisbane airport, grabbing a hire car, then driving an easy 40minutes directly south towards Redland Bay via the Gateway Arterial Road - there is no need to worry about Brisbane city and its associated traffic etc.

rn

Once on the deck of barge, most people get out of their car and enjoy watching the mainland slip away behind them, also keeping an eye out for dolphins, turtles and rays.

rn

rn

Our minimum stay policy, is as follows:~

rn

2 nights Off Peak; 3 nights for Long Weekends; 4 nights during School Holidays and Easter; 7 nights from 19th Dec 2011 to 14th Jan 2012.

rn

rn

We offer 20-30% discount for stays of 7 or more nights during our Off Peak season, School Holidays and even over Easter - so please email us for these rates.

Bed layout:

Upstairs, the master suite is an open-plan bedroom and ensuite area, encouraging "time out" for adults. The bed faces the waters of Moreton Bay, so why not laze in bed or read the Sunday papers while soaking up the wonderful view.  Once again, floor to ceiling glass opens from the bedroom onto your own private deck - have breakfast or coffee there, while your friends or family use the one downstairs.

The second  bedroom downstairs has a queen size bed and also enjoys the same spectacular view as the living area. Large glass doors slide back and open onto the shaded deck - why not borrow one of our many books, lay back and relax on your deck chair, or even settle for an afternoon snooze.

Bedroom three has 2 large size, king single beds suitable for children, teenagers & adults alike; and although it doesnt have water views, it overlooks the tropically landscaped gardens filled with fox-tails, coconut, cascade and other assorted palms, along with a large variety of tropical flowers.

Guest Reviews

We loved our stay..... it was exactly what we needed before embarking on a hectic work schedule.
Even though the weekend was cold & wet - we found enjoyment from the ever changing scenery outside the glass wall. As soon as we pulled into the driveway our thoughts were "WOW" - we entered the front door and could all physically feel
the stress of the working week fall from our shoulders. The ambience of the whole house is just wonderful. You should be very proud of what you have created at Sunset Waters.     Oct 10:  Kathleen & family, Loganlea Qld
We just had the most relaxing time in your most beautiful house ....You didn't miss a thing ...it was above and beyond our expectations. Oct 10: Helen & Rob, Thornlands, Qld
Delightful house, so well equipped with fantastic views from the moment we opened the door. We had a peaceful and very relaxing weekend on our first visit to Macleay Island. We hope to be back for more, as it's a truly wonderful place to stay.   Aug 2010: Kerry & family, Jimboomba, Qld

What a fabulous place Sunset Waters is. The house is great and the views are spectacular as the hundreds of photos we took can testify. We used the fishing gear, the bikes and the board games- you have catered for everyone with your added extras. What a fantastic break away, we will recommend your place to our friends and hope to be back. Thanks again.  Apr 2010: David, Sandra & family, Glenbrook, NSW

Just what we needed—a little touch of paradise!    Jan 2010: Vanessa & Matt, Yamanto, Qld
