There are few common reonsas why you might be requested to pay upfront at an emergency room upon arrival at a hospital:•You do not have a national medical aid or travel insurance. •You are at casualty and only have travel insurance which casualty does not accept.•Your medical aid doesn’t cover casualty.•The hospital that you are admitted to or the country that you are in, does not accept the particular medical aid or travel insurer that you are covered by. •The specific hospitals policies or procedures state that it only accept cash or require an upfront deposit regardless of whether or not a patient has medical aid or travel insurance. In most instances after paying upfront you are able to claim back or are reimbursed from your medical aid or travel insurer. -2Was this answer helpful?
